Gigesa Guji Washed - Ethiopia

This washed processed offering is a combination of some 850 smallholder farms. Their harvests are delivered to the Gigesa washing station in Shakisso, since each individual farm is too small to have a processing facility of their own.

We are impressed with the balance of acidity and texture. The initial tasting is seriously juicy and clean with chocolate undertones and berries. The finish is complex with vanilla and dark chocolate. Very exciting and satisfying as espresso or filter brewing.

Did you know - average farm size for smallholders in the region is about 2.5 hectares. There is other producing plants grown alongside the coffee trees and shade providing trees such as Acacia which provide protection for the flora and fauna!
